The talented Cassandra Nelson of Exceptional 2 Infinity has interviewed me as a Spotlight Artist for her showcase of artists that create positive art.

Per Cassandra, “Positive Art, depicted in various mediums, is created with the intention of drawing the viewer in and inviting them to investigate and cultivate compassion for themselves and others.” I’m so impressed and inspired by her and her goals. She’s working to build a community of artists in the positive arts space “to support human diversity and promote diversity education through the avenue of the art market.”

In addition to supporting positive art, Cassandra is an accomplished artist and photographer. I particularly love her “My Robot Obsession” series. Those are some adorable robots! You can view them along with her other artwork and photographs on her website,Exceptional 2 Infinity, and also read more about positive art, and purchase prints on Etsy.

Two Paintings for San Jose Holding the Moment Exhibition

I’m thrilled to announce that both of the paintings were accepted for consideration for “Holding the Moment,” a serial exhibition put on by the City of San José’s Public Art Program partnered with the Norman Y. Mineta San José International Airport. The exhibition’s purpose is to offer local San José artists an opportunity to reflect on the global COVID-19 crisis and these challenging times.

Tying Two Very Different Yet Similar Places Together

I recently wrote about a new art series that I'm working on. This is the first painting in the new series titled "Places of My Heart's Delight." I'm calling this first in the series painting "A Place of Heart's Delight." The theme is based upon the thoughts I've had...

abstract minimalism acrylic class today

Today I spent four hours hurriedly slapping paint onto two canvases in an abstract minimalism class. The conditions weren't ideal, as the class was packed with students, and so the instructor's attention was spread pretty thin. This was very much out of my comfort...

It’s first come, first served.

How Does a Painting Come Together?

“What location inspired this landscape?” is a question I’m often asked. When I try to explain that there’s no specific place involved and my paintings just sort of come oozing out of my head, I get some odd looks. I need a better way to explain this, so I’ll show you some of the stages my paintings go through in this post.

Eager for Spring to Arrive? Spring Poppies are Here

I love the California winter, known here as the rainy season, but by the time Spring actually arrives, I’m so ready for it. My “Spring is Coming Poppy Meadow” acrylic painting is a celebration of what I know is just around the corner for California.
